QR Tilt Train

Indigenous artists working with the Girringun Aboriginal Art Centre have had their work superimposed on one side of the length of a Queenlsand Rail tilt train. Girringun artists were selected from 48 submissions state-wide to supply images to cover one whole side of one of two tilt trains. The selection panel comprising professional Indigenous curators praised the fresh new approach that Girringun artists use in the ceramic medium while also recognising the accomplished traditional weaving techniques for which the Girringun region is renowned. Girringun artists worked with designer Madeline Hoy and photographer David Campbell.

The QR tilt train which carries work by the Girringun Artist was launched in September 2011 in Cairns. The Tilt Train Project was a partnership between Queensland Rail and Arts Queensland and was funded by the Arts Queensland Art + Place Program.
